Sentimental, Botanical and Victorian Inspired – The Perfect Personalised Rustic Gift
Throughout the Victorian era, flowers were gifted with the intention of starting a conversation, expressing a flirtation or question which may have been prohibited to be spoken about outright. Flowers were selectively chosen to stimulate a meaning or topic, it would be an honour and great expression of affection to receive a positive and loving bouquet of flowers.
During this era, the language of flowers was developed, allowing people to express feelings of love and admiration in a perhaps taboo society. The language assigned to flowers increased the demand and popularity of flowers, and was commonly referred to as floriography.
Individual flowers were then given an attached meaning, which allowed a more passionately and secretive transaction in conversation between lovers, friend and neighbours.
Oh how times have changed…
I wanted to incorporate this amazing value on flowers and their meanings into one of my designs, which lead me to my new range of personalised birth flower lockets.
I handpicked flowers that relate to each month, and researched into the meanings and symbolisms behind each flower. It was so lovely to see that not only did beautifully exotic flowers match up with each month of the year, but that these flowers also had sentimental and unique meanings and symbolisms. These lockets are available on either an ice pink background, or a darker black gradient or black and white transfer.
