The Apprenticeship

Established in 2011, Gillian Arnold is a designer brand. With products including home wares, furnishings, jewellery and gifts, the brand is famed for its personalised feel thanks to founder Gillian’s hands-on approach to her work. To create her prints, Gillian uses cuttings of British wildflowers and plants, making the brand unique in comparison to other designer labels. Products are generally produced at the company’s production bases in the North-East England towns Darlington and Bishop Auckland. The company works alongside over 150 wholesale stockists across the UK and abroad, supplying them with goods to sell on their websites and at their premises. Products are also sold in the company’s own boutiques and on their website.

Working alongside the production team, you will be responsible for making home furnishings to be sold in Gillian Arnold boutiques, on the company website, and at over 150 wholesale stockist locations across the UK and abroad. During your time working with Gillian Arnold, you will develop unrivalled knowledge of the upholstery and general furniture industry, as well as a clear understanding of Gillian Arnold as a company and a designer label. There will also be full training provided regarding the daily ins and outs of the job. Generally, you will work alongside two other colleagues but will require the ability to work collaboratively on a wider scale with the rest of the workforce. Training will be provided by both Gillian Arnold as a company through in work practices, and the apprenticeship provider. The company will also provide a uniform and suitable PPE.
