Learn how to construct a professional-quality lampshade using a fabric you bring from home, a beautiful Gillian Arnold design or one of the other designer fabrics available. Gillian will guide you through preparing your materials, assembling your shade and achieving a beautiful finish. This welcoming, hands-on workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike.
Your Finished Lampshade
You’ll make a drum-shaped lampshade with a finished height of 24cm. It can be made for use as either a ceiling pendant or a table lamp.
Standard Workshop — £30 per Person
Your online booking includes tuition and lampshade-making materials for a 20cm diameter lampshade. Please bring your own fabric for the standard workshop. You will leave with a finished shade ready to display in your home.
A maximum of 10 places is available. Book the standard £30 workshop online to reserve your place.
Bringing Your Own Fabric
A thin fabric works best for the easiest finish, although thicker fabrics can also work.
Available lampshade diameters are 20cm, 30cm, 35cm, 40cm and 45cm. Please bring fabric approximately 30cm wide. Use the table below to find the fabric length for your chosen shade size.

Optional Upgrades — Payable on the Day
A selection of Gillian Arnold fabrics and other designer fabrics will be available to choose from on the day.
- Gillian Arnold and other designer fabrics available from £5.
- Make a matching pair of 20cm lampshades for an additional cost, payable on the day.
- Increase your lampshade diameter: £5 extra for each size increment above the standard 20cm shade.
Fabric, size and matching-pair upgrades are chosen and paid for on the day, separately from your online workshop booking.

Put your new skills into practice after the workshop. Lampshade craft kits are available at competitive prices, so you can continue making beautiful lampshades at home.
Refreshments and Accessibility
Tea, coffee and cake will be available.
The workshop venue is entirely on the ground floor.
